It’s that time of year again; you know “peace on Earth goodwill to everyone etc, etc….” So, next time you go into Supa IGA or the Denmark Cooperative IGA supermarkets, how about buying two of those special non-perishable food items, or anything else that takes your fancy, and deposit them in the new Denmark Relief Network metal donations cages at the entrances?
The Denmark High School Design and Technology students constructed the cages in their metalwork classes with materials from Denmark Steel Supplies and donations from various community and church groups in Denmark. The Relief Assistance Network, a local volunteer group formed specifically to address the temporary food, clothing and shelter issues in our town, made the donations cages a special project for the festive season and to encourage the gift of giving.
The simple act of giving to those in greater need than ourselves is a core aspect to our health, happiness and well being. Whether you’re a volunteer, a carer, friend or work in a care giving profession, you know how much you receive in return when your efforts are appreciated and acknowledged. So, thanks to all those involved in getting this project off the ground and we wish you health, safety and happiness over the festive season and next year!
