In the swim of things: Little Fishes Swim School starts lessons!

Rosalie Plozza, a local Mum and AusSwim certified instructor, has started swimming and water safety classes for 0 - 5 year olds for Denmark families. Denmark has a river, rugged coastline, beautiful beaches and private properties with ponds and dams. Our children are at risk around such locations if they don’t know how to swim or help a little brother or sister if they get into difficulties.

Little Fishes Swim School has been created to address these concerns and Rosalie, a mum with three young boys, knows well the importance of properly introducing little ones to water and building their confidence in it.

For more information about Denmark’s Little Fishes Swim School contact Rosalie Plozza on 98408180

Also: Rosalie is interested in hearing from anyone with current AUS-SWIM qualifications or has previously conducted swimming lessons. Police clearances are also required.

The Western Australian Community Foundation’s Mission:

To support and strengthen Western Australian communities by growing and distributing endowed funds, and encouraging the sharing of knowledge, to meet emerging needs.

WACF Role:
Western Australian Community Foundation (WACF) is an independent not-for-profit organisation created to nurture and grow philanthropic giving in our state. It serves as a vehicle through which individuals, community groups and organisations can direct their giving to the communities in which they live in a manner that produces sustainable and long-term outcomes.

WACF Goals
The goals of the Foundation are to:

  1. Act as an independent catalyst to build, grow and distribute endowed funds for Western Australian communities.
  2. Facilitate education and learning opportunities that strengthen community self-reliance and build leadership capacity.
  3. Provide leadership, direction and resources to communities, interest groups and businesses seeking to contribute to and benefit from philanthropic activities.
  4. Promote and foster sustainable philanthropic community business partnerships across Western Australia.
WACF Journey:
Following the extensive work completed by WACF Steering Committee, and with the support of Lt General John Sanderson AC, Governor and WACF Patron at the time, the original Directors were appointed in July 2003. The experience gained from consulting with community groups in WA and representatives from community foundations around the world has resulted in the WACF Board endorsing a specific direction for the future of the Foundation.
Today, the Foundation has more than 20 donation accounts with communities around Western Australia and is in the process of setting up regional community foundations with the State’s nine Regional Development Commissions.
Do we want to set up a Denmark Comunity Foundation?
The Great Southern Development Commission and WACF have released the EOI’s for application of $10,000 to seed fund a local Community Foundation. If Denmark wishes to become one of the next foundations we need to raise another $10,000 to qualify for the grant.
If you feel this is worth applying for please contact Dr Gillian Sellar on 98483415 or gillian.sellar {at} health.wa.gov(.)au to discuss. More information is available at the WACF website www.wacf.org.au or in the following documents:
