Many thanks to all who attended and all those volunteers who could not.
If you would like to volunteer for any of the many organisations in town please contact Gill Sellar on 98483514 or Venetia Marshall on 98480612 or log into the Volunteer section of the Denmark Community website www.dwalc.org.au in the near future to see a list of potential volunteering opportunities

Volunteers are the backbone of most of our social and community groups in small country towns. Without volunteers very little would get done and it is time their contributions were more widely acknowledged and the immensity of the actual monetary contribution in equivalent hours and effort needs factoring into the worth of all
community’s activities.

Remaining physically, mentally and socially active and belonging to a group helps define a person’s sense of identity and makes them happier and more able to cope with problems and stress. Similarly, giving time and energy to a good cause adds meaning to a person’s life, helps their self-esteem and gives a strong sense of purpose, all of which are good for mental health.
At the same time, volunteers learn new skills and teach others whilst meeting new people and building self
confidence, many also generate a network of contacts and references for future paid employment. People can volunteer in many different fields depending on their interests; some of these include ambulance, fire and SES, art and culture, disabled and health services, education, seniors and sport.
